Shredded paper is compressed into tight bales.
Confidential Shredding Procedure
Your paper is collected in one of two ways:
- We remove your file boxes with paper in them, or...
- We provide 95 or 65 gallon security containers, or 36 gallon consoles, that you fill.
Padlocks are provided with containers. You may choose to keep the lids open for easy filling, or locked at all times. We do not give keys out for our locks.
When bins are full, simply call us. Or you may wish to be on a set schedule.
Our trucks are fully enclosed and locked. When trucks return to Kard, they stage into secure docks equipped with shelters, to seal the truck’s opening from the outside.
All containers and boxes are removed from the truck, weighed, recorded, and staged by the shredder. The containers are unlocked only as they are emptied onto our shredding conveyor. There is no sorting of paper performed. Garbage or large metal items that would damage our shredder may be removed.
Your shredded paper is then compressed into very tight bales. Bales are loaded onto enclosed semi-trailers and delivered to the paper mill. A Certificate of Destruction follows the entire procedure, and is sent to you at completion.
Once at the mill, bales are unloaded from enclosed docks and "dropped" into large vats filled with water and chemicals. Paper is repulped and the papermaking processes begins again.
State Law Requirement
By using this procedure, you... "take action that you reasonably believe will ensure that no unauthorized person will have access to the personal information contained in the record for the period between the record’s disposal and the record’s destruction." (Statue 895.505)
